# News developments fields

> Definitions, types, allowed values, and defaults for news developments.

Use this reference with the endpoint documentation. A required field must be present; a nullable field can still contain `null`. Missing data does not mean zero. See [Field guide](/field-guide) for unit and status conventions.

### `GET /v1/news/developments`

| Parameter | Location | Type | Presence | Meaning |

| `market_code` | query | string or null | optional | Optional market venue code, e.g. NGX or NASD |
| `q` | query | string or null | optional | Search text matched against the resource's name, ticker, or documented searchable fields. |
| `company_id` | query | string (uuid) or null | optional | Filter or identify a company using its stable Rangler identifier. |
| `ticker` | query | string or null | optional | Trading symbol used to filter the company or recommendation selection. |
| `sector` | query | string or null | optional | Filter by the company's stored sector label. |
| `period` | query | string | optional | Named date or history window; supported values and defaults depend on the endpoint. Default: `"7d"`. |
| `scope` | query | string | optional | Statement reporting scope to select, such as consolidated or separate. Allowed values: `all`, `tracked`. Default: `"all"`. |
| `limit` | query | integer | optional | Maximum number of records to return in this page; the schema gives the allowed range. Default: `20`. |
| `cursor` | query | string or null | optional | Opaque next-page cursor returned by the preceding response; pass it unchanged. |
| `country_code` | query | string or null | optional | Filter by ISO 3166-1 alpha-2 market country code |

| `next_cursor` | string or null | optional | Opaque cursor for the next page. Pass it unchanged as cursor; null means no next page. |

| `price` | number | required | Stored share-price observation in currency. |
| `currency` | string or null | optional | Currency of the associated monetary value, normally an ISO 4217 code such as NGN. |
| `as_of` | string (date) | required | Date or timestamp to which the observation applies; follow this field's declared format. |
| `net_change` | number or null | optional | Absolute price change in currency. |
| `percentage_change` | number or null | optional | Fractional price change; 0.05 means 5%. |

## News development

| `id` | string (uuid) | required | Stable Rangler identifier for this record. Use the value exactly as returned. |
| `headline` | string | required | Headline of the grouped news development. |
| `summary` | string | required | Short description of the event, document, or resource. |
| `why_it_matters` | string or null | optional | Explanation of the development's significance when available. |
| `status` | string | required | Stored lifecycle label of the grouped news summary, such as generated; not a company listing status. |
| `confidence` | number | required | Confidence score between 0 and 1. It is not a guarantee of correctness. |
| `source_count` | integer | required | Number of source articles supporting the development. |
| `first_published_at` | string (date-time) or null | optional | Earliest publication timestamp among the supporting articles. |
| `last_published_at` | string (date-time) or null | optional | Latest publication timestamp among the supporting articles. |
| `generated_at` | string (date-time) or null | optional | Timestamp when the grouped development summary was generated. |
| `primary_company` | [Company](/fields/companies#company-read) or null | optional | Company primarily associated with the grouped development. |
| `companies` | array of [Company](/fields/companies#company-read) | optional | Companies associated with this resource. |
| `sources` | array of [News development source](/fields/news#news-development-source-read) | optional | Evidence or source references supporting the returned information. |

| `published_at` | string (date-time) or null | optional | Publication timestamp of the source document or article when known. |
| `description` | string or null | optional | Human-readable explanation or source description of this resource. |
| `excerpt` | string or null | optional | Short excerpt of the supporting source article. |
