# Growth calculations

> Supported growth periods with their formulas, required metrics, units, and API formats.

Growth figures are calculated from standardized metric values. Rangler leaves out a result when the required comparison period is unavailable or the calculation would not be meaningful.

## Net cash from operating activities

Metric: `operating_cash_flow`

### 3Y

* **Formula:** `(operating_cash_flow / operating_cash_flow_3_years_ago) ^ (1 / elapsed_years) - 1`
* **Required metrics:** `operating_cash_flow`
* **Unit:** Percentage
* **API format:** `decimal_fraction`

### 5Y

* **Formula:** `(operating_cash_flow / operating_cash_flow_5_years_ago) ^ (1 / elapsed_years) - 1`
* **Required metrics:** `operating_cash_flow`
* **Unit:** Percentage
* **API format:** `decimal_fraction`
