# Financial data

> Choose between standardized statements, exact reported tables, and filing sources.

Rangler provides financial statements in two forms. Use standardized financials to compare issuers and periods. Use reported tables when the issuer's exact labels, columns, and printed structure matter.

Rangler calls its reference list of supported metric keys, units, and formulas the **financial metric catalog**. The catalog describes the fields the API can return; it is not a list of companies or a company's reported values.

Both surfaces require a paid live organization and an API key with the `data` scope.

## Start with a statement

```bash theme={null}
curl -sG "https://api.rangler.co/v1/company/financials/income-statement/standardized" \
  -H "X-API-Key: rgl_live_your_key_here" \
  --data-urlencode "company=ACCESSCORP" \
  --data-urlencode "countryCode=NG" \
  --data-urlencode "periodType=annual,latest" | python3 -m json.tool
```

The `company` parameter accepts a ticker or Rangler company UUID. `countryCode` is optional when the ticker identifies only one company. Send the ISO 3166-1 alpha-2 market code when a ticker is ambiguous across markets. An unresolved ambiguity returns `409` with `code = "ambiguous_ticker"`.

Use these focused routes for common requests:

| Data | Endpoint |
| - | - |
| Standardized income statement | `GET /v1/company/financials/income-statement/standardized` |
| Standardized balance sheet | `GET /v1/company/financials/balance-sheet/standardized` |
| Standardized cash flow statement | `GET /v1/company/financials/cash-flow-statement/standardized` |
| Revenue segments | `GET /v1/company/financials/revenue-segments` |
| Income statement as reported | `GET /v1/company/financials/income-statement/as-reported` |
| Balance sheet as reported | `GET /v1/company/financials/balance-sheet/as-reported` |
| Cash flow statement as reported | `GET /v1/company/financials/cash-flow-statement/as-reported` |
| Company ratios | `GET /v1/company/ratios` |
| Metric definitions | `GET /v1/standardized-metrics-list` |
| Ratio definitions | `GET /v1/ratios-list` |

Request each statement section separately. This keeps response time and payload size predictable, and lets you cache income statements, balance sheets, cash flows, ratios, and revenue segments independently.

## Pick the right representation

| Requirement | Use |
| - | - |
| Compare revenue or margins across companies | Standardized statements |
| Build a period summary or valuation model | Standardized statements |
| Show the exact label printed by the issuer | Reported tables |
| Render a source preview or PDF highlight | Source and geometry endpoints |
| Determine whether one value was reported or calculated | `metric_origins` and `sources` |
| Look up metric keys, units, or formulas | Financial metric catalog |

Standardization does not replace the reported filing. It gives equivalent financial concepts consistent names while keeping links to the source value. See [Reported and calculated values](/financials/lineage) to understand how each value was produced.

## Response-size defaults

Standardized endpoints omit embedded metric definitions by default and return compact filing references. Their `catalog_version` identifies the metric definitions used to construct the response; cache those definitions separately instead of downloading them with every company.
